Stephen Beckett joined Zwift in November 2014 as Zwift’s VP of Marketing and Customer acquisition, prior to becoming CMO in Oct 2019, with a brief to deliver brand and customer growth globally. Mr Beckett brought to Zwift an improbable and successful career spanning Subscription Marketing, Content Marketing and Cycling. Cycling - as Head of Cycling at Sky (2010-2012), Mr Beckett was responsible for Sky’s investment in cycling, covering their partnership with British Cycling (Goal - to create a million more cyclists in the UK) and the governance of Team Sky (Goal - to win the Tour de France in 5 years). Sky’s investment in cycling is regarded as one of the most high profile and successful global sports marketing strategies of the last 25 years. From 2012-2014 Mr Beckett operated a specialist consultancy, Bike Brands, focussed on building his industry network and the development of cycling across elite and mass participation spaces. This included establishing Ride London, the cycling legacy component of the 2012 Olympic Games, for the Mayor of London’s office. Acquisition Marketing - as Head of Media Planning & Strategy at Sky (2007-2010), Mr Beckett was responsible for managing the UK’s largest advertising budget (£100m+ p/a) focussed on brand, subscriber and ARPU growth, product launches and seasonal campaigns for Sky Channels (Sports, Movies, Entertainment). Key duties included management of Sky’s media agencies, relationship management with media owners, evaluation of paid media ROI and campaign effectiveness tracking. Customer Marketing - prior to a focus on subscriber acquisition at Sky, Mr Beckett was responsible for the management of Sky’s promotional inventory (TV promo airtime, channel continuity and presentation and web), as Head of Promotional Strategy, part Sky’s Entertainment Directorate. This role focussed on driving channel metrics (e.g. program ratings and share of viewing), upsell of premium channel and hardware to drive ARPU and commissioning campaigns to mitigate season ‘spin down’ and churn. Prior to Sky, Mr Beckett worked as Media Planner/Buyer at Zwift Media (Publicis) and Vizeum (Havas) working across Finance, Automotive, Banking, Insurance and FMCG categories. A self confessed sports nut, Mr Beckett is a committed Level 50 Cyclist and Level 21 Runner on Zwift. Mr Beckett relocated to California in 2018 (from London), to headquarter Zwift’s marketing function in Long Beach, alongside Zwift’s Game and Product Teams.
