Matthew BuxtonCEOMYSTiC Games

Matthew Buxton, a passionate individual hailing from the UK and based in Sweden, grappled with a difficult choice between his two greatest interests: dinosaurs and video games. Ultimately, his love for games prevailed. With an unyielding drive and innate leadership qualities, Matthew rapidly ascended the ranks of the games industry, attaining the position of Senior Level Designer at Jagex. Seeking fresh challenges, he ventured to Portugal, where he assumed the role of Senior Game Designer at Miniclip, spearheading the design and monetization aspects of the wildly popular 8 Ball Pool Multiplayer, a game with millions of daily active users.

Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to make a lasting impact, Matthew made the bold decision to establish his own game development studio: MYSTiC GAMES. As the CEO and Co-Founder, he leads the company in pursuing a player-led game development philosophy. MYSTiC GAMES has recently opened a second studio in Stockholm. It is focussed on creating games that actively reward and engage their dedicated gaming community, aspiring to build a world where players truly own their accounts, in-game treasures, and even to owning their own piece of MYSTiC GAMES.

Testament to his ingenuity and expertise, Matthew holds a patent alongside his co-founder at Mystic Games. He hopes to lead the games industry towards a more open, player-led future, which rewards gamers for their passion for games.
