Martin ContelLead Technical Artist Striking Distance Studios Spain

Martin Contel is the Lead Technical Artist at Striking Distance Studios Spain, and with over 25 years of experience in the industry, he brings his vision, know-how and unique ability to breathe life into real-time digital humans, blurring the line between reality and CGI.

He has always pursued believable, aesthetically pleasing photorealism and has found shared synergies while working on numerous high-end TV commercials for brands like Nike, Sony, Coca-Cola, and Mercedes-Benz, among others.

After a 5-year stint in London, he and two of his closest friends co-founded Glassworks Barcelona, providing state-of-the-art post-production services to southern Europe.

A lifelong gamer since the arcade era, in 2013 he joined Square Enix in Japan as CG Supervisor. In this role, he oversaw the visual quality of the game cinematics for some of the most iconic franchises in gaming, including Final Fantasy, Deus EX, Hitman, and Dragon Quest. Prior to that, he also worked on the cinematics for Halo and Destiny.

As a big lover of sci-fi, time-travel theories and paradoxes are his favorite conversation ice breakers.
