Chanel Dawée is a Narrative Designer at Netflix working on the Interactive team that creates branching narrative titles like Black Mirror’s: Bandersnatch. Previously, she was the Senior Narrative Editor of R&D at Riot Games, helping design the narrative content of Valorant, Legends of Runeterra, and several other upcoming projects. Forever scarred by her big sister always getting to play Mario, leaving only Luigi for Chanel to experience her first video game through, Chanel has devoted her career to giving players agency in their entertainment. “Through narrative design, we can transform fantasy worlds into places that feel as natural as home, characters can challenge us to learn and grow, and environments can convey the lost love, unbridled ambition, terror or desire that shaped them. Story has the ability to reward players for their curiosity, persistence and ingenuity, which is why great narrative design is so important to making unforgettable games.
