Mary (waabishkiimiigwan) Hermes, Director, Grassroots Indigenous Multimedia
Dr. Mary "Fong" Hermes is a 30 year veteran of Ojibwe and indigenous language activism. Specifically, Directing GIM, she has produced major multimedia softwares (Ojibwe 7000), documentation and archives projects (NSF/ DEL funded) song books and over 30 research articles. She was a co-founder of the first Ojibwe immersion school, Waadookodaading, on the Lac Courte Orielles Ojibwe reservation in Wisconsin. She is a mixed heritage person who is a community member at Lac Courte Orielles Ojibwe reservation. She is currently 2.5 years into the 5 year point-n-click video game, Reclaim! A game that will be available fully in the Ojibwe language. Her day job is being a Professor at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
