Adam Jerrett, Senior Lecturer, University of Portsmouth
I am a game design/development senior lecturer who has worked in both South Africa and the UK. Though I am an education professional, much of my work centres around practice (i.e., making games). As an academic, I have attended multiple conferences to present papers and give talks. I also cohost a podcast called Game Academy, have written many articles for popular academic journalism site The Conversation, and occasionally produce video essays for YouTube. In addition, I am also a practicing pervasive game designer, focused on creating values-conscious games. The most recent of these is What We Take With Us, a hybrid game that was part alternate reality game, part room-based game (similar to escape rooms), and part digital game with associated play workshops. While the game itself is a "simple" set of wellbeing tasks, this was augmented through a character story told on Discord, YouTube, and in the physical game room.
