Jess Rowan Marcotte, Co-Founder, Designer, Writer; Community Organizer, Soft Chaos Cooperative; QGCon
Dr. Jess Rowan Marcotte is a queer, transgender, Mi’kmaw and Euro settler game designer, writer, researcher, and community organizer with an individualized PhD in Interaction Design and a Master's in Creative Writing from Concordia University. They have been making games since 2013 and their work on projects such as In Tune, rustle your leaves to me softly, and Strangers on the 'Net have been featured in prominent games festivals across the globe, including Ars Electronica, IndieCade Night Games, IndieCade East, and E3. In addition to co-founding Soft Chaos, they have worked extensively with organizations such as UNHCR and the WHO as a consultant on game-related projects. They are also a board member and organizer for the QGCon Collective and an advocate for better labour practices in the game industry.
