Gaurav is working with DeepWell DTx to bring mental health games to the world.
In a previous role as Creative Director for External Studios at Penumbra, Gaurav synthesized clinical input with art and design direction for a variety of Immersive Health applications. He was the founding Art Director of Penumbra's internal REAL System studio and guided development of Happy Valley, Penumbra's stroke rehabilitation therapy game and first released title.
Gaurav has worked on video games including the critically acclaimed Grim Fandango and Psychonauts, the bestseller Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, and the beloved Skylanders console games. He launched gamedevmap -- a curated living map and catalog of game development around the world -- in 2005.
Gaurav was a judge and a mentor with the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) for over a decade. He's been a Portfolio Review Panelist on the "Killer Portfolio or Portfolio Killer" session annually since 2019. He has also served as a Judge and a Juror in the Excellence in Visual Art category for the Independent Games Festival (IGF) in 2022 and 2024.
