Dave grew up in Maryland where he studied visual arts with a focus in multimedia (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash) at Carver Center for Arts and Technology in Towson. He went on to get a BFA from the now-defunct Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago's Media Arts & Animation program. His first job out of school was at WMS Gaming (now Scientific Games) doing illustration and animation for video slot machines (and a few mechanical ones). He pursued further studies in traditional vfx through Adam Phillips' Bitey Castle Academy FX course and was an avid 11 Second Club participant before studying character animation with Animation Mentor while working at a series of mobile game startups. He started at Riot as an Associate VFX Artist in 2015, most recently creating the vfx for several VALORANT agents. Apart from VALORANT, he's worked primarily on unreleased titles but has contributed to multiple small projects through Riot's Thunderdome game jams including Super Arcade Gunner, Ziggs Arcade Blast and PROJECT.EXEcute. He's also an active contributor to VFX Apprentice's coursework, trying to pass on some of the tips and tricks he's learned on the job.
