Vanesa Lorena Tate started composing and exploring sound at the age of four and is a former student of the Royal Academy of Music in London. As a Supervising Sound Editor, Music Composer, Music Editor, Location Sound Mixer and Re-Recording Engineer, Vanesa moved between London and Los Angeles and has worked alongside leading directors such as Walter Salles (On The Road), Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy 2), Tim Burton (Sweeney Todd), Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu (Biutiful), David Yates (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Stephen Frears (Cheri) and Kevin Reynolds (Tristan & Isolde). As a Senior Audio Director, she has over a decade of game development experience across both console and mobile. Vanesa is passionate about creating amazing interactive experiences with great, like-minded people. Responsible for artistic vision, quality and production efficiencies, Vanesa covers all aspects of game audio including conceptual development, in-game music and sound design, UI, branding and marketing audio. Highly experienced in leadership and people management, Vanesa thrives on motivating teams to reach their true potential. Also highly versed in strategic direction, coaching, client management, project scoping, agile development, risk assessment, recruitment and professional development. Vanesa's work has regularly featured in competition in some of the most respected international film and games festivals including the Academy Awards, Sundance, Cannes, Venice, Berlin/EFM, Gamescom and E3. In 2014 she was chosen by The Guardian to feature in their 'Women in Leadership' section, and in 2020, by Gameindustry.biz to write about music and sound for mobile gaming. She is an active mentor and advocate for women in music and sound; taking part in the She Said So mentoring program as well as the British Council/ASA mentorship program in countries such as Brazil. Vanesa is King's first Studio Audio Director (Activision/Blizzard/King), responsible for audio over 24 games (live and prototype).
