Tatiana Vilela dos Santos is a multi-award winning independent game designer and interactive artist based in Paris, France. In 2010, she starts working as a game designer specialized in Human-Computer Interactions for emerging technologies (iPad, VR, AR, XR, robotics...) for different companies of the entertainment industry. In 2012, she begins working on her own games, making playful installations and experimental arthouse games, as part of her interactive multimedia project MechBird. Most of her works are alternative controller games: video games featuring tangible hand-crafted interfaces she builds specifically for these experiences. She also hijacks technologies and contraptions to explore uncharted territories of playfulness. Her works are exhibited worldwide paving the way for a new form of video games distribution focused on onsite events and physical spaces. She does not only make games involving dedicated tangible interfaces but also conduct research on these experiences beyond screens and joysticks as part of her doctoral thesis.
