Leon Wei is the engine team lead at LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS. As a game engine expert engineer, Leon brought over a decade of experience in game software development and led the game engine team for UNDAWN. Leon focused on the techniques of mobile game optimizations and mobile GI. He implemented a Vulkan API-based parallel render framework for UNDAWN to replace frequent rendering API jank, and achieved 30% decrease in CPU render time. He also designed the Global Illumination (GI) system in UNDAWN using a probe-based method, enabling real-time fast rendering of the lighting environment in the open world. Leon previously contributed to the development of DarkSiders Mobile and Legend of Elves after finishing his master's degree in the State Key Library of CAD & CG at Zhejiang University. His research interests include computer graphics, image processing, game development, somatosensory-based interaction, computer vision, and machine learning.
