Chao Weng is a manager and principal researcher of LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS. He manages two groups of researchers and engineers focusing on high performance computing and speech tech, including speech codec, recognition, synthesis, and processing.
Prior to joining LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS, Chao spent three years in Apple’s Siri Speech team as a key engineer responsible for Siri speech recognition and successfully delivered the very first far-field and convolutional acoustic models on iPhone and HomePod. He also conducted research at Microsoft Research Redmond and AT&T Labs Research during his graduate study at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Chao holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has authored/co-authored more than 50 publications/patents.
