Peter Whalen, Sr. Game Director, Riot Games
A gaming industry veteran, Peter Whalen serves as the Game Director for Teamfight Tactics (TFT), the largest PC strategy game in the world. Peter oversees all aspects of the player experience for TFT ranging from long term strategy to monetization to gameplay. This includes each of the three TFT game updates or “sets” that come out each year which consists of new playable champions, themes, abilities and other gameplay features. He joined Riot in 2022 after spending seven years at Blizzard, where he was the Game Director of an unannounced project and a Principal Game Designer on the Hearthstone development team. Peter is the creator of Dream Quest, the popular roguelike deck building game, which was named 2014 RPG of the Year by Pocket Tactics. Peter published Dream Quest as a graduate student while completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
