In Children and Safety: An Ever Changing Landscape, we will discuss the rapidly shifting online social environment and protections that exist for children and vulnerable people of all ages. Participants share and discuss children's safety strategies in legal considerations to design/UX strategies to technical tools, moderation practices and more with real world examples and a closing exercise. Attendees are encouraged to share personal experiences or insights related to moderation and design with online safety in mind.

Takeaway

At the end of the Children and Safety, An Ever Changing Landscape session, participants will feel more confident speaking up about tools or regulations supporting processes that include safety planning in the design process instead of an afterthought. Through community building and connection with other game developers invested in children's safety online we can make the virtual landscape safer for all who play there.

Intended Audience

Children and Safety, An Ever Changing Landscape is for anyone who is interested in the process, policy and community building around children's safety in online spaces. Anyone can work to make online spaces they are in safer and this discussion allows for sharing resources and networking to support that goal short and long term.
