Agenda
Establishing the Standards and Practices of Game Preservation Roundtable
'Game Preservation' is a deep subject covering numerous fields of work from emulation to the archiving of development assets all the way to the remastering and re-releasing of games. However, despite so many contributing to this field, one universal question remains: "What is Game Preservation, and how do you do it?".
This session serves to bring preservationists and archivists together to discuss a shared definition for 'Game Preservation', and share ideas on standards that institutions and companies internationally can adopt.
As a Roundtable, attendees can submit questions relating to any and all forms of game preservation during the session. Some examples:
1. How can we improve the working relationship between institutions and companies?
2. What are the best tools for X workflow?
3. Which areas of Game Preservation are underdiscussed?
Takeaway
Attendees will be able to share their personal experiences in Game Preservation, as well as be able to contribute back to the industry at large. They can expect to leave with an expanded understanding of the current processes of institutions and companies, and what pain points exist for each and how they may be able to be addressed today and in the future.
Intended Audience
This session is open for any and all who work in the field of Game Preservation whether at a studio, a publisher, an institution or those who function as freelancers and enthusiasts.
