Agenda
Game Design Documentation Bootcamp
This workshop develops an overlooked skill in game design: Communicating through clear and effective internal documentation. Attendees explore how well crafted documents support collaboration, align teams, and articulate intent and vision across disciplines and development phases.
Through a mix of individual and group exercises, attendees draft, structure, revise, and analyze different types of documentation, featuring a selection of industry samples, guided evaluation with rubrics, and discussion of documentation best practices.
Takeaway
Attendees are given hands-on experience with key elements of specific documentation types, with a clear understanding of best practices. They take away a framework for deciding what document to use for what purpose, rubrics for each type of documentation that break down their goals and uses, and are given worksheets and examples that they can reference.
Intended Audience
This workshop is intended for entry-level designers to gain literacy and understanding of documentation, as well as mid-level designers who have worked with documentation before but are now starting to create their own.
