The Game Narrative Roundtables are a two-day discussion series where narrative designers, game writers, and quest designers come together as a community to share best practices, compare notes, and talk shop in a structured, professional setting. Each day focuses on different career stages: Day 1: Early Career explores topics like portfolio development, breaking into the industry, and the skills aspiring narrative developers should be building, while Day 2: Mid-level/Senior centers on the challenges of working in the industry, narrative advocacy, and the future of the discipline. Developers of all experience levels are welcome to attend either session, as are professionals from other disciplines interested in narrative.
Takeaway
Attendees exchange practical strategies, professional perspectives, and career advice tailored to their experience level in a safe, welcoming environment made for the Narrative community. Early-career attendees gain actionable guidance on portfolios and breaking into narrative, while working professionals share solutions to production challenges and discuss the future of the discipline.
Intended Audience
Day 1: Early Career primarily benefits students, career changers, and entry-level developers, while Day 2: Mid-level/Senior is aimed at working narrative designers, game writers, and quest designers. No prerequisite knowledge is required, though professional narrative experience is recommended for Day 2: Mid-level/Senior.
