The transition to AAA open-world development brings about new problems a team must overcome in order to hit a higher quality bar demanded by the target audience. In this talk, you hear about some of the problems and roadblocks the designers and team leadership encountered along the way and the various methods we adopted to overcome them.


Attendees get a look into the design roadblocks Avalanche Software ran into while developing Hogwarts Legacy and how we removed them along the way. The talk will center on issues around siloed strike teams, unifying vision across the team, visualizing what you're making and the review process.

Intended Audience

The intended audience is designers, producers and team leaders who are leading a team into new territory in genre and/or game scope with a future project. This talk specifically targets teams transitioning from indie or smaller releases to AAA or larger development cycles. It also gives insight into how Avalanche Software works, its history and makeup.
