As the industry bleeds talent from mass layoffs, it’s more crucial than ever to not only bring juniors onto teams, but also set them up for success so they can thrive and begin the path towards becoming seniors. In this panel, industry professionals Ashley Poprik, Emma Kidwell, Sarah Helen Slovak, Natalie Checo, and Samantha Low will inform seniors of the biggest problems that juniors face in the industry. Why is consistent and accurate titling so important? When are you ready to mentor a junior? Why is hiring marginalized talent vital to the health of the industry? These questions and more will be answered by a group of developers composed of both seniors and juniors.

Takeaway

Attendees will come away with a better understanding of the benefits of hiring and maintaining junior talent, what problems juniors are facing in the current climate, and how to best attract, support, and grow those who are new professionals within the gaming industry.

Intended Audience

This talk centers on the perspectives of juniors but is aimed at seniors, recruiters, and hiring managers. Even so, juniors are more than welcome to attend to gain further clarity on the issues they will face as they work toward success in the video games industry.
