Teaching Game Development in High Schools, Middle Schools, and Youth Activity camp settings presents unique challenges that are distinct from how post-secondary education approaches Game Development, while also differing from how other secondary educators approach the instruction of other disciplines. These issues are compounded by a lack of communication between educators, often resulting in educators having to teach in isolation, with limited meaningful support available at the site, district, county, or even state level.

This roundtable aims to identify common challenges associated with proposing, creating, and teaching Game Development in a Youth Educational setting. Allowing educators to come together to form a community of practice and start to identify possible best practices to improve student outcomes and improve program resilience.

Takeaway

Attendees will identify common issues and discuss possible solutions in the creation and teaching of Game Development in youth educational settings such as High Schools, Middle Schools, Elementary Schools, or youth activity camps.

Intended Audience

This roundtable is for teachers, administrators and other educators who teach or want to teach Game Development in a Youth Education setting or anyone interested in starting a Game Development Program in their school or school district.
