In Children and Safety: An Ever Changing Landscape, we will discuss the rapidly shifting online social environment and protections that exist for children and vulnerable people of all ages. Participants share and discuss children's safety strategies in legal considerations to design/UX strategies to technical tools, moderation practices and more with real world examples and a closing exercise. Attendees are encouraged to share personal experiences or insights related to moderation and design with online safety in mind.

Takeaway

There is a ton of regulatory movement here, but a "wait and see" approach to compliance is extremely dangerous given how aggressive laws and regulators are becoming. Games will have to adapt to survive, but they will need to be smart about which battles to pick -- staying compliant while still respecting user privacy and minimizing friction.
