Agenda
Localization Roundtable (Presented by the IGDA)
How can localization unlock new markets for both existing and emerging IPs, and what does it take to strategically plan a global game launch? This roundtable will explore how to integrate localization thoughtfully into development pipelines, leveraging market research to uncover an IP’s cultural strengths across diverse player communities. We’ll discuss when a text-only approach is sufficient and when audio or other forms of localization can meaningfully enhance player engagement and explore how a game might sensibly be localized into other languages after launch. Participants are invited to share their experiences and engage in a lively discussion on best practices and insights for making games resonate authentically across languages and regions.
Takeaway
Attendees at each roundtable session will interact with colleagues facing similar issues through the whole localization process, learning how problems have been overcome by their peers and gaining specific knowledge in the localization area.
Intended Audience
Localization professionals from all departments and all areas of expertise; developers and publishers willing to understand how to plan and execute game localization and culturalization as a part of the development cycle; students approaching the game localization field.
