This session will cover the techniques, creative philosophy, and methodology of Field Recording & Foley Recording in the context of sound design for games. It will touch on the justification of these techniques over, and in addition to, using stock sound library material or generative tools. There will also be discussion on how these original recordings increase the variety and inherent originality of your game's sound vision as well as a discussion on building out a bespoke library of source material for you and your team. This lecture will emphasize how a strong and defined sound vision relies on having quality source material and how that material can be acquired from recording unique sounds.
