Online Multiplayer Roundtable: Ship & Operate
Multiplayer games are getting more complicated by the day, yet so much of what studios learn operating them never leaves the building. This roundtable brings developers together to compare notes on how multiplayer games ship and operate, discussion topics including everything leading up to and after launch. How do you test something that only fails at ten thousand concurrent users? Zero-downtime deploys, or do you still take the game down for a major event? Day-2 operations: what do you watch, and what wakes a human? Launch-day capacity for a spike you get one shot at. Who owns the backend, and who is on-call? Worst outage story, and what changed afterwards?
Takeaway
Attendees leave with concrete comparison points from peers running live multiplayer games, covering how others test at scale, deploy without downtime, and monitor for outage and problems both before and after they occur.
Intended Audience
This roundtable welcomes the full range of technical practitioners interested in building, scaling, and deploying multiplayer games — from those approaching their first through to developers who have shipped several. No prerequisite knowledge is required beyond general familiarity with technical game development. Some backend systems knowledge is a plus.
