Agenda
System Design Best Practices and Roles in Game Production Roundtable (Presented by the IGDA)
This is a roundtable discussion about careers in system design. We will discuss the role of system design in different developmental stages and how it interacts with other design and development disciplines in a team structure. The opportunities and challenges of different career stages for system designers. How to navigate system design with the industry’s fast-changing nature of genre/platform/audience preference.
We hope this will be a concentrated space for system designers from different stages of their career and development experience to discuss the love (and hate) of working in the discipline and how to navigate current job markets and funding climate as a system designer.
Takeaway
Audiences should come out of this roundtable with an improved understanding of how the system design pipeline works in different development styles and cultures. Exchange system designer career development, sustainability, advancement, and effective mentorship tools and tips. As well as support and connections to survive and thrive in today’s market.
Intended Audience
This roundtable is primarily aimed at working system/gameplay/combat/game designers, but the conversation can also benefit people who are interested in system design as a potential career, as well we game developers who want to understand the system design discipline better.
