In The Art of Being Anyone, acclaimed actor and performance-capture artist Debra Wilson joins moderator Jesse Marciniak for an intimate conversation about identity, transformation, and the emotional core of game performance. Wilson reflects on how an actor reaches beyond voice, appearance, and archetype to discover the truth of someone entirely different. Through stories from across her career, she explores the instincts, physical choices, imagination, and personal connection that allow a character to feel fully alive. At its heart, the session explores the paradox of acting: the more completely a performer becomes someone else, the more deeply human the performance can feel.

Takeaway

Attendees gain practical insight into how performers use playable objectives, physicality, vocal choices, emotional memory, and collaboration to create distinct characters.

Intended Audience

This session serves voice and performance directors, writers, narrative designers, audio teams, producers, animators, casting professionals, and actors seeking deeper insight into character performance.
