How do you get players invested in stories told from an isometric camera 90 feet overhead? How do you balance the role of quests in supporting the greater worldbuilding while creating a deeply personal story that keeps the players engaged?

In this talk, Harrison describes the process and the strategies used to create emotionally compelling quest content for the ARPG Diablo IV, as well as how the team's quest designers meet the unique challenges of the genre. From paper design through implementation, Harrison shows examples taken from Diablo IV to highlight what the team has learned during its development and share insight into what makes a compelling narrative experience.
