In the roundtable for Understanding AI in Game Audio, the AI Working Group co-chairs will present findings and best practices for AI not only in the generative space but also in tooling. We will present the WIKI for roundtable members and encourage frank but respectful discussion in this space and answer any questions regarding AI in Game Audio, with a code of conduct and ethics briefly outlined at the start of the talk. This talk is hosted by the IGDA IA-SIG.

Takeaway

All participants should feel informed as to the direction AI in game audio is taking, with tools introduced, approach to the iterative process in game development, and the usage of those tools and best practices. AI is another layer along with sampling and synthesis that needs to be factored into the creative process. Protection including negotiating skills and understanding legal rights is critical, though the SIG is not in any way qualified to give legal advice, it will provide links and resources to consult to do so. There is also great potential to increase creative power in the AI space, and attendees will have knowledge to enable this potential.

Intended Audience

This roundtable is intended to inform and empower all those in the interactive audio space. Understanding AI in Game Audio is to present progress on a comprehensive and ethical framework of recommended best practices for the development, deployment, and use of audio AI tools. The AI Working Group as part of the IA-SIG and IGDA are committed to fostering transparency, fairness, and accountability in the rapidly evolving field of audio AI by collaborating with stakeholders across technology, academia, industry, and creatives, and this roundtable will provide valuable information and discussion to audio professionals, students and independents in these spaces to navigate this field.
