There is no hard-coded set of rules for video games writers and narrative designers, and often the form and function of the job is dependent on the culture of the studio you work with. Be it for indie, AAA, or somewhere in between, the idea of "best practices" feels nebulous when processes everywhere can vary so wildly. But something we can all agree on is that in order to persist and thrive in your craft, being open to learning and growth is critical.

We've assembled a panel of video game writing super-veterans with decades of experience across the industry. We have worked on major IP from Call of Duty to Marvel to Dungeons and Dragons, hot new IP such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and smaller indie teams. We've been full time studio hires, contract project writers, participated in writers rooms large and small and even lead or directed project narratives. We all come from vastly different backgrounds and experiences, from how we got their start, to the game genres we've written for, to where we are now. Now is the moment to ask a group of seasoned professionals every burning question you have about game writing and how to grow your craft and career.

Takeaway

The audience will take away new insight into all aspects of game writing and working as a game writer within a studio environment, lead by questions from those in attendance.

Intended Audience

This will be most beneficial to entry level and junior writers, but will offer wisdom and advice for any writer looking to better their craft and ability to collaborate within teams.
