After the success with the music for Metal: Hellsinger, a new challenge approaches: A fully interactive score, recorded with a live orchestra, but this time, instead of metal music, a whimsically soft soundtrack for the game Witchspire, a game that reminded us of the magical lands of Studio Ghibli and Disney.

From soaring through the skies on a broom to epic battles with your wand, the score will follow you every step of the way!

Come to a talk on Interactive music done with a live orchestra by Two Feathers (Elvira Björkman, Nicklas Hjertberg), the multi-award-winning composer duo behind music from games like Metal: Hellsinger, Aragami, League of Legends, Vermintide 2, Hammerwatch, and Angry Birds 2.

They will touch upon preparing scores, approaches before and during recordings for an interactive score that doesn't rely on layering sessions, as well as showcasing some of the in-engine magic.

Takeaway

From this talk, you will get new ideas on how to approach massive recording sessions for interactive scores in a very efficient way that doesn't rely on a section-by-section recording to achieve interactive layering.

You will also walk away with new fun inspiration on how to tie your music to the actual player movement and the world around you.

Lastly, you will grow some newfound appreciation of the flexibility of Wwise and how much you can achieve even if you just learn a little bit of blueprint in Unreal 5.

Intended Audience

Intermediate to Advanced Music composers, Music Designers, Audio Designers and Audio Directors will get the most out of this talk. But beginners and other disciplines with a great interest in music and a direct approach to enhancing the game design and world of a game through it would also benefit from this presentation.
