A great Steam page can change an indie game's fate, turning obscurity into long-term sales, yet most still look like lifeless feature lists. For indie developers, Steam pages are the single most important and direct way to reach players. Still, many copy bland and boring AAA layouts, formats that only work thanks to brand power and marketing spend, and describe their game like they're selling accounting software.
This session explores how to build pages that connect emotionally, convert quickly, and most improtantly set the right expectations for the almighty Steam algorithm. Drawing on backend insights and data from supporting over 30 game launches a year, and dissecting hands-on insights from standout examples like CloverPit, Summerhouse, Peak, Necesse, and Vampire Survivors. This talk shows why tone, honesty, and personality matter more than polish or safe feature lists. The talk also includes hard data from the backend, page-by-page breakdowns, and practical tips and tricks to optimize for visibility and conversion.

Takeaway

Attendees gain a deep understanding of how to craft a modern Steam page that resonates emotionally and visually in a way that improves vibes, traffic, conversions, and algorithmic visibility. And most importantly sets the right expectations. The talk combines real-world examples, data, and actionable tips from real-life examples and recent steam changes from experience of launching dozens of indie games per year.

Intended Audience

This session is for anyone making a game with a Steam page, whether solo developer, a bigger dev team or a studio marketer. No prior knowledge is required. Ideal for indies who want their game to stand out in an overcrowded store and connect with players quickly and emotionally.
