Use the experience filter to view sessions and roundtables that will be available on the virtual GDC event platform. Virtual sessions will be available to watch on-demand through April 1st, 2022 at 5pm PT. All days/times are displayed in Pacific Time.

Use the Viewing Experience filter to see which sessions will be available on-site, on the virtual platform, or both:

  • In-Person: offered on-site, not available within the virtual platform. Check the session’s listing to see if it will be recorded for GDC Vault after the conference.
  • Virtual: offered in the virtual platform at its scheduled time.
  • In-Person/Virtual: offered onsite and the recording will be available to watch-on-demand within 36 hours of the session start time on the virtual platform until April 1st at 5pm PT
  • In-Person/Virtual Livestream: offered on-site and will be livestreamed to watch on the virtual platform at its scheduled time. The recording of the video will be available to watch-on-demand within 36 hours of the session start time on the virtual platform until April 1st at 5pm PT.

Youichiro MiyakeLead AI ResearcherSQUARE ENIX

Youichiro Miyake has been involved in development of video game titles while researching game AI technologies as the lead AI researcher at SQUARE ENIX. He has developed and designed AI for numerous game titles. He has given many lectures in the universities and game developer conferences. He has published academic papers which explain game AI and procedural techniques for digital games. Furthermore, he is the chair of the SIG-AI in International Game Developers Association Japan Chapter, and also the board of Digital Game Research Association Japan and the Society of Art and Science. The paper "Current Status of Applying Artificial Intelligence in Digital Games" was published from Springer in 2015. The article " A Character Decision-Making System for FINAL FANTASY XV by Combining Behavior Trees and State Machines" was published in GAME AI PRO 3 in 2017. He is the author of the 3 books "Stories on Philosophy for Artificial Intelligence" "Artificial Intelligence pictures book" "Making a game AI method" published in 2016.He developed the technical design of AI for the following game titles: CHROME HOUNDS (2006, Xbox360), Demon's Souls (2009,PlayStation3), Armored Core V (2012, Xbox360, PlayStation3) developed by FROM SOFTWARE, and FINAL FANTASY XIV, FINAL FANTASY XV, and Kingdom Hearts III developed by SQUARE ENIX.
