Landing your first game scoring gig is only half the battle, getting noticed is often the harder part. In this session, Sony Music's Will Martins shares practical marketing strategies designed specifically for emerging and independent game composers. Drawing from campaigns for 007 First Light, Cyberpunk 2077, Helldivers 2, Destiny 2, Ghost of Yōtei, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, he demonstrates how composers can build a recognizable brand, create repeatable content systems, and market their music with limited time and budget. Rather than focusing on theory, this session provides actionable frameworks that attendees can implement immediately to increase visibility, connect with developers, and create opportunities before landing a major studio credit. Attendees leave with practical tools to market themselves with the same strategic thinking used behind some of gaming's biggest soundtrack campaigns.

Takeaway

Attendees learn practical frameworks to build a recognizable composer brand, create repeatable marketing systems, and confidently market their music. They leave with actionable strategies for content creation, outreach, and positioning that help attract developers, studios, and future scoring opportunities, even without AAA credits.

Intended Audience

This session is intended for emerging and independent game composers, audio professionals, and students looking to build a career in game audio. No prior marketing experience is required. Attendees benefit most if they already have original music or a portfolio they are actively developing.
