Could your AI-enhanced game survive a copyright challenge or defense? AI generated diverse and exciting means to develop content. Not surprisingly, game developers and other creatives embraced AI and incorporated generative content within their creative works. However, at least currently, the United States Copyright Office ("USCO") does not extend copyright protection to certain – and arguably most – generative AI content. Consequently, unless creatives implement best practices, they risk diminishing their work's copyright protection. Building on resources from the USCO and others, this presentation will identify the issues, provide immediate solutions, articulate best practices, and propose policy considerations.
Takeaway
Attendees will learn how to protect their creative works from the inclusion of AI-assisted content that could otherwise weaken copyright protection. The session provides a practical framework for auditing existing assets, preserving human authorship, correcting registration issues, documenting provenance, evaluating synthetic voices and likenesses, and building defensible development workflows.
Intended Audience
Attendees of all levels, positions, and roles will benefit from this presentation as no prerequisite knowledge is be required. The fundamentals will be provided within the dialogue and each following segment will build upon the prior material provided.
