Charles Mudd, Principal Attorney, Mudd Law
Charles Lee Mudd Jr. is a technology attorney, AI practitioner, educator, and frequent speaker. As founder and principal attorney of Mudd Law, he advises domestic and international clients on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, gaming, intellectual property, Internet law, privacy, and software. He combines more than twenty-five years of legal experience with hands-on work involving Python, machine learning, computer vision, and AI systems. Charles has taught technology, privacy, intellectual property, and space law and regularly presents to legal, technical, business, and international audiences. He previously served for six years on the Board of Directors of the International Technology Law Association and now serves as an ITechLaw Ambassador. He is also a founding member of the Internet Law Leadership Summit, an organization of experienced Internet and technology-law practitioners. His broader leadership work includes participation in international legal and policy initiatives involving technology, innovation, and responsible development. Charles approaches AI not only as legal counsel, but also as a technologist who builds, tests, and evaluates AI and machine-learning systems. That combined perspective informs his practical work helping organizations adopt emerging technologies while protecting intellectual property, privacy, security, and long-term business value. He is completing the final requirement for a Master of Science in Applied Data Science from the University of Chicago.
