When a tool or a workflow process falls short, narrative designers are often left needing to react creatively to solve difficult, bespoke problems in order to get their story content actually into the game and shipped. Join Alexa Ray Corriea, Jolie Menzel, and Kaitlin Tremblay as they share insights into some of their best (and worst) war stories of implementing story content for the games they've worked on. They will share specific examples of creative solutions for implementing story content (what worked and what didn't), and what problems in workflows give rise to narrative designers having to commit "narrative crimes" in the first place.
Takeaway
Audiences will learn how to enhance creative collaboration between narrative and other disciplines, as well as a problem-solving mentality when narrative tools or processes fall short. Build a creative problem-solving muscle by learning about the different paths toward solving bespoke narrative challenges.
Intended Audience
The intended audience is both people working in narrative, as well as other disciplines who work closely with narrative. This talk is for anybody who wants to understand the workflows that cause narrative designers friction, as well as the creative problem-solving narrative roles employ to solve these frictions.
