Being a game audio programmer requires a lot of expertise. We work as systems engineers, as tools developers, as pipeline developers, as mathematicians, as sound designers, and more. Our work requires us to put together disparate pieces of knowledge to create beautiful, useful tools for sound designers to use. Oftentimes, we only see the final result presented in its pristine form, but we rarely see the process of how an audio feature became what it is. In this session, Guy will present a number of audio features and how they came about. Throughout it all, Guy will show the process of thinking about audio features like an audio programmer.
Takeaway
Attendees will gain an understanding of how to think about audio features like an audio programmer, and see the flow of the creation of a feature from the germ of an idea to the actual implementation.
Intended Audience
This session is intended for audio programmers, sound designers, and anybody who would be interested in seeing how audio programmers think.
