Over the past decade or so, Paula Angela Escuadra has been working to elevate the power of games and interactive experiences to redesign conversations around what it means for humans to engage with complex concepts and systems. Most recently, she co-developed the games user research framework for Stadia Games & Entertainment with an emphasis on accessibility and inclusion; served as the community research co-lead for the UN Playing for the Planet Alliance; and co-founded the IGDA Climate SIG that serves to convene scientists, researchers, and game developers to solve the climate crisis with an intersectional lens. Prior to Google, she worked with public, private, and NGO organizations to apply game design thinking to the socialization of complex topics, like 21st century skills development for middle school youth; cybersecurity for human rights defenders; and emergency preparedness for vulnerable communities.
